To get started on your way to becoming a certified HVAC technician, you can either attend a trade school to get a certificate or you can go to college to get your associates degree. The median salary does vary by state for an HVAC technician, but most states the salary exceeds $45,000 a year.

Teens should begin thinking about their career choice before they begin their high school career. Even if their choice isn’t set in stone, having a general idea of their career choice can help them pick courses that would benefit them once they graduate. Some high schools offer students the opportunity to learn a trade or receive vocational training, but with the Internet boom, some schools took away these programs.   3. I’ll show these to my kids. My son needs to find something that he won’t get overwhelmed with since he has autism. My daughter is pretty good with her hands so she might be good at some of these.

I know my daughter wants to go to college but to study art (help me) but I think her going to vocational school would actually benefit her in the long run and would be a great intersection of her passion and making a living. I live in NYC and I can tell that with the exception of the HVAC, all those vocational occuptions make money.

  9. I wish that my kids’ school encouraged kids to look at vo tech jobs. My brother-in-law is a software engineer, but he also has a side business in home renovation. He is hoping to retire early from his desk job so he can work full time doing home renovation.
