Are you looking for some home remedies or tips to help reduce your child’s high fever? It’s important to note that if your child has a persistent or very high fever, it’s best to consult a healthcare professional for guidance. Here are some measures you can take:
Offer Plenty of Fluids
Encourage your child to drink lots of water, clear broths, or oral rehydration solutions to prevent dehydration. Avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages.
Maintain a Comfortable Environment
Ensure the room temperature is neither too hot nor too cold. Dress your child in light clothing and use lightweight bedding to keep them comfortable.
Apply Lukewarm Compresses
Dampen a washcloth in lukewarm water and gently place it on your child’s forehead, armpits, or back. This can help lower their body temperature.
Give them a Lukewarm Bath
Offer a lukewarm bath or sponge bath: You can try giving your child a sponge bath with lukewarm water to help cool down their body temperature. Avoid using cold water or alcohol, as it may cause shivering and raise the body temperature.
Administer Fever-Reducing Medication
Consult with a healthcare professional to determine the appropriate dosage of fever-reducing medications, such as acetaminophen (e.g., Tylenol) or ibuprofen (e.g., Advil). Always follow the recommended dosage instructions for your child’s age and weight.
Use Fever-Reducing Suppositories
If your child is vomiting or unable to take oral medications, suppositories might be an alternative option. Consult a healthcare professional to determine the appropriate medication and dosage.
Encourage Rest
Make sure your child gets plenty of rest to support their recovery. Allow them to sleep or rest as needed.
Monitor Symptoms
Keep an eye on your child’s symptoms and look out for any signs of worsening or additional concerning symptoms. If necessary, seek medical attention promptly.
Seek Medical Advice
If your child’s fever is persistent, doesn’t respond to home remedies, or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms, it’s important to contact a healthcare professional for guidance.
Remember, these tips are not a substitute for professional medical advice. It’s important to consult a healthcare professional if your child’s fever persists or if you have any concerns about their health.

Such great tips here and when taking that fever medication following the dosage is huge! I totally agree and also with my kids my doctor told me when they had a fever to alternate their fever medication doses between Tylenol and Motrin as my daughters fever was not responding as well to the one option…. it stopped helping to reduce the fever. My doctor said alternating is a good idea and works well. I did that and was able to break my Childs fever ….
