It’s no secret that children love begging for sweet snacks and treats, but these aren’t always beneficial. There’s nothing wrong with the occasional dessert; however, your kids won’t benefit from eating sugary foods every day. That said, you might need a few alternatives in your arsenal to ward off a sweet tooth. Most children eat constantly since they’re growing rapidly; having snacks on hand is a requirement! Follow along for a few sweet snack alternatives your kids will love and you can approve of.
Homemade Fruit Popsicles
Summer is all fun and games until it’s too hot! Your kids might beg for ice cream or sugary popsicles every day, but you can give them something even better: homemade fruit popsicles. If you have reusable popsicle forms, you can use them all summer. All you have to do is combine different fruit juices, purees, and sparkling juice or water in the molds and freeze them. After a few hours, you’ll have tasty frozen treats for the whole family.
Chocolate Banana Bites
Even though some may consider chocolate bad, a little won’t hurt. Chocolate banana bites are another awesome frozen treat, and they’re really easy to make. Simply cut fresh bananas into bite-sized pieces, melt the chocolate of your choice, dip the bananas, and freeze them. After a few hours, they’ll be cold and delicious—ready for your kids to devour.
Raw Honey and Yogurt
Yogurt is a great snack for your kids, but they might want something a little sweeter. That said, you can mix in raw honey to transform it into an ultra-sweet treat. There are many reasons honey and honeycombs are good for kids, but the undeniable sweetness is helpful. Because honey is delicious and nutritious, it’s one of the best snacks to satisfy a sweet tooth.
Pro Tip
You can also drizzle raw honey over toast for a sweet and tasty breakfast.
Dried Fruit
Fruit is nature’s candy, making it one of the best snack options. Although you can feed your kids fresh fruit, dried options are also delicious. Because most fruits become crispy or chewy when dried, they’re an excellent substitute for chips and gummy candy. Whether your children like bananas, apples, berries, or another type of fruit, you can dry these foods to create a tasty treat.
Now that you know a few sweet snack alternatives your kids will love, you can keep them happy and healthy. Healthy snacks don’t have to be bland or boring—fruit is one of the easiest ways to make naturally sweet treats.

Hey there! I just read your article on sweet snack alternatives for kids, and I love the ideas you shared. Homemade fruit popsicles and chocolate banana bites sound like delicious and healthier options for a sweet treat. Mixing raw honey with yogurt is a brilliant idea to satisfy their sweet tooth while adding some nutritional benefits. And dried fruits make for a convenient and tasty snack. Thanks for these great suggestions!
we love all these snacks in our home though i don’t think i have tried to eat frozen banana yet.. (have eaten banana with some melted chocolate drizzled on it though..)
We are allergic to most fruits, and also look out for the fructose content, the chocolate-covered banana is something we often have (along with choco-almond splitter) – a little less fructose and unsweetened chocolate = energy boost!
I love all of these alternatives and I especially love the fruit bars and I also love dried fruit! My grandmother used to always send a dried fruit platter for the Holidays every year and I fell in love with them and they are so good for your gut too!
